Three (3) hours by road we find the Township of Stawell and then the magnificent Halls Gap surrounds at the North East corner of the Grampians National Park.
From the flat open plains of Western Victoria we suddenly enter an area of rock faced hills rising vertically upwards- just like this area had been pushed vertically upwards from its surroundings.
Lava from Volcanic reactions in the nearby Penshurst area thousands of years ago resulted in the current geological make-up of the region and its current structural formations.
Here we find Valley's formed with creeks running through them and in wet periods an abundant number of waterfalls which are easily accessed by road and walking tracks.
On our visit we will travel to see :
* Boroka Lookout
* Mckenzie Falls and Broken Falls
* Lake Bellfield
* Lunch
Then back to Stawell to see:
* A Town from the 1860's
* Central Park - known for its Easter Running Carnival
Then onto Ballarat to see :
* Historic Town buildings
* The history of Gold in this area - Eureka Stockade
* Lake Wendouree
* The Botanical Gardens
Then we return to your accommodation in Melbourne stopping for afternoon tea on the way.
